The annual Southern Africa Telecommunication Networks and Applications Conference (SATNAC) is the continent’s leading ICT conference and draw some 400 delegates every year. This prestigious event is hosted under the auspices of Telkom and is the only conference of its kind that puts students, academics and government representatives under the same roof as specialists and leaders from industry.
During the conference a number of plenary sessions and presentations will focus on the theme: The new Digital Economy - How to transform the Telco Networks with speakers and panellists representing telecommunication operators and vendors from local and international organisations.
SATNAC originally started in 1998 to provide a platform for postgraduate students to showcase their research. The conference has grown tremendously over the years and is now recognised as one of the most important ICT conferences in Southern Africa.
A special occasion will be celebrated this year when SATNAC hosts its 20th anniversary.
SATNAC is a parallel development to the Telkom Centres of Excellence (CoE) programme and is a very important facet of this capacity building programme. The programme is the largest coordinated research programme in South Africa and it is an incredible milestone to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
To celebrate the success of the CoE programme as well as SATNAC a unique experience is planned to make SATNAC 2017 the highlight in the history of this initiative.
This year’s SATNAC will be held from 3 to 10 September 2017 on the Freedom of the Seas Cruise Liner operated by Royal Caribbean International.
Looking forward to see you at SATNAC 2017!
